.... state of the move has been stalled. I think I'm going to try to take a halfday due to the four hours of overtime on Tuesday, and actually get some work done on that. The good news is the last 2-3 days has seen the pile of boxes in the mainspace go down to, like, two. We haven't touched much on any of the other boxes, but that is still improvement, and I can see counterspace!

In the meantime, we've picked up a toast oven and made space for it, my desk parts (or a whole new damned desk) is arriving in a couple of days, and the chairs for the table arrive on Monday.

I had a brief bout of intestinal distress last night, so I got no sleep, but things seem to be going better. Gonna drink like I'm trying to empty Shasta though! Hope it's not going from going to mostly all purpose-made bread and butter daily for breakfast (and sometimes lunch) to cereal and good milk daily, but we'll see.

In the meantime, things are going apace, and starting to take shape.

Mental note: need to call junkers still and reorder racks.

Whelp...

....movers moved, and we unpacked stuff. We all have chairs, my desk had a bent support so I am dealing with a card table for work and this oldlaptop for anything online I don't want to do on my phone, and my phone for anything I can't do on this laptop. We are definately going to need more shelves, but so far so good. Still got tons of stuff to get from the old place, but we're getting there.

First meal of the day - turned leftover pot roast, veggies and drippings into beef(and veg) in gravy, with Hawaiian rolls..

I haven't broken out bread skills yet, but I also have no clean counters or tables. ;)

Blargh

Movers on Saturday, and I feel like nothing has gotten done. I mean, things /have/ been done, but...

Ah well. Today at least I took up some of the pantry stuff, and all our sauces and condiments, our veggies, beer, some of the vinegar, the other dutch oven, and my kitchen aid over. Also the bagged up craft stuff, another section of the kitchen books and some of the housemate's knicknacks. Tomorrow we're probably going to load up stuff already in boxes or luggage just to get them out of the way. If I can manage it, I want to get the piles of books boxed up so the movers can just move those. (Also, so they can *get* to the bookshelves*

Did remember to order the oven racks, as our oven only has one, and it's gross, but still need to order computer chair.

Ah well. Every bit I bring up on my own is less we have to deal with directly on Saturday, or even Sunday.
On the Progress side: We now have trash bins for his office and the kitchen, his desk is finished, the lids for our snapware sort of have a home, and the freezer is full (very very very full). We've also bagged up some of the trash and taken it out, there are things in our fridge, and we have another half shelf at the new place.

We have also determined that we are not taking any of the exercise equipment, and probably going to call a junker to take away the two desks, a couch, and a broken bed w/mattress, so we don't have to deal with it.

The Not Progress side: most of the kitchen is still a cluttered mess, my desk hasn't been touched at all, and we have no actual clear spots cleared out to point as progress. Also, the housemate that isn't coming with us has bagged up all the yarn stuff in plastic bags (hopefully not a tangled mess), and has started pulling out all our teas and mugs and just left them on the counter. Okay, fine. They can stay there until I'm willing to deal with them, which isn't going to be tonight.

Tentative plan for tomorrow: Hunt down folding chairs for the new place, and load up the car with the load of stuff for either tomorrow or Thursday. Which may include craft bags and at least the teas.
Eh, sort of. Worked, then went to Target to get missing things for new place. Didn't go to new place because making pot roast for tomorrow, but I'm sure there will be plenty to do tomorrow.

And of course the housemate we aren't keeping decided to bag up all the craft stuff and just shove them willy nilly into the common space we are using as our staging area, because we didn't move it out of the space she unpacked everything into. Yes, I'm grumpy. We're not read for that stuff yet.

But at least I have a kitchen mat and a bag of sugar.
.. so, desk was delivered before 9am, which sort of threw things out of wack - such as having them load directly into the car.

Thankfully, it was light enough I managed, but I probably shouldn't have - and I probably shouldn't have hauled it in to the new place alone - but I did.

Spouse's desk is 90% done, and I helped with some logistics, mine is in my office, but still boxed up.

Confirmed the washer and dryer worked, and the new bed has clean sheets on it, ready for Saturday.

Unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher - Should be able to start to load up my baking staples drawer with flour and a sugar container - need to figure out how I am going to store my salt for regular use rather than just the huge gallon container I have tucked away.

Figured out where my dehydrator and kitchen aid attachment is going (tiny cupboard above the stove) and where my overflow of ziplocs are going to go (top of the fridge with the juicer). Still need to figure out where my water bath canner is going to go though!

Things to do this week: Get the last bit of freezer stuff out of the chest freezer and defrost it; clean out more of the baking supplies and vinegars and ferry over to the new place; pack up and move the half shelves; 10 million other things.

Less than a week before the movers come over, and 3 weeks before we've got to be out of here and have it all cleaned up. Aaaiieee!
Today was a day for /not/ unloading the car of boxes and such and repacking them. Instead I jaunted down to Olympia, had a lovely lunch with a friend, then we hit up the stores. All told, hit Trader Joes, US Chef Store, and Costco. Oof. Tomorrow, I also need to hit up Safeway, but I should really figure out some meals besides 'pot roast on Monday'. Of course, next week we do want to get another set of trips up to the new place with stuff, because movers next Saturday, but I can't plan that part out.

What I /can/ vaguely plan out is tomorrow. Go to Safeway, then get gas.

Unload and repack stuff for trip to new place.

Wait for new desk to arrive, put it in car first, /then/ load up car with rest of stuff.

Maybe talk housemate into coming?

Head up to meet spouse for desk-putting-together.

Arrange kitchen a bit more, clean more dishes, make bed with the good sheets.

If housemate came along, go to the good bar and grill.

Oh, and somewhere in there, I should probably hit up target for a kitchen mat, some waste bins, and some padded folding chairs.
... well, the household is on the mend, so that is good. Dinner was made - a lovely marinated rosemary lemon chicken baked, and a pan of greek lemon potatoes (with some mushrooms smuggled in). Next time, I want to try to get the rosemary bread made too as the drippings would be amazing with warm bread.

As for the move, not much happened. I did do a load or three of laundry, mostly blankets, to take over tomorrow. Sunday, we're going to be moving the new desk boxes over, and assembling them, which is going to be a good step forward.

Not much else happened. Spouse got a raise, and we have enough leftover potatoes that the housemate has three no spoon meals, and there's another bigger container in the main fridge for lunch or something.

Imbolc!

Got some cleaning out of the closet done, and am doing laundry so we have a better idea of what we're dealing with (yes, our room is a disaster).

In the meantime, lemon rosemary marinate is marinating some chicken for tomorrow night, I have blackberry-bayleaf mulled cider to enjoy, and I have a very long fic to enjoy tonight.

Good news?

At least of yesterday afternoon, negative for covid, but still ongoing fevers and reduced appetitite. I was going to make a lovely dinner, experimenting with new recipes to make a lemon-rosemary marinated chicken, greek lemon potatoes, and some fresh baked rosemary bread, but between the sick and the housemate having a guest over this week probably not. Also, of course, they have taken over the fridge. Again.

I cannot /wait/ to be moved into the new place, because I am so tired of this bullshit.

Ugh...

Jan. 29th, 2023 04:43 pm
... good news is I got some grocery shopping done and some basic pantry staples stuff for the new place, the bad news is the housemate has a sore throat and the spouse has a low grade fever. I'm a bit chilled myself, but it's also been hovering around 37-40 today.

Ah well. At least I have the makings for chicken soup of some sort. I was supposed to be working, but that might be a bit later. And I should probably make some tea.

A Bed!

Jan. 28th, 2023 09:59 pm
A bed has been made, a freezer is slowly filling.

Alas, the desk is not inside, but I think we can get that sorted on Monday. Tomorrow, alas, is make-up-work day, and grocery shopping.

A bed?

Jan. 27th, 2023 08:34 pm
... a bed! In parts though. We'll see about fixing that, and maybe a desk too.

More importantly, first load of freezer stuff got taken over. Only got... another 10-15 loads? to go?
... The moving continues on! We did a quick run yesterday, and got a couple of short shelves, some of the stuff that went with it, some kitchen stuff, ect. We didn't unpack anything, just grabbed some fastfood and headed back, as the spouse had some work to still do, and I'd be going out today to meet the delivery person with our new bed (our old broke, and rather than get new then move it, dealt for about 2-3 months).

Today's stuff to take includes a tote of bathroom stuff, some of the housemate's stuff, some baking things I won't immediately need, and I'm hoping to fit some foot stools and a furuniture foot stool. The housemate may come as well, but they are feeling unwell, as their sib didn't pick up their meds like they said they would (yes, I will be taking care of that today if it isn't handled by the time I head back).

So while waiting for the delivery guy, I'm going to be unloading the car, trying to find a home for some of the bathroom stuff (we need to get an over the toliet shelving thing, I think), running the dishwasher for garage kitchen stuff, cleaning the dusty shelves we moved last night, and just starting to poke at things.

Oh, and if I can, meet the neighbors and figure out which darned meter is theirs so I can transfer electric. Our landlord is less than useful.
We were gifted a nice area rug, all blues and teals, so we took that, our card tables, step stools, and some of the kitchen stuff we've had in the garage.

Between that and the stuff I got at Costco yesterday (cutting boards, glass tupperware), we're starting to get the kitchen together.

I need to run the dishwasher to test it out, and get the first set of stuff washed to put away, but I also unpacked my allclad pot and steamer, and the ceramic enameled high dutch oven, both of which were Christmas presents. It isn't even half of our kitchen stuff, but at least there is progress.

We also got batteries into all the fire alarms, moved the non-food basics onto one of the card tables, and generally putzed around for a bit. Stuff like dish soap, dishwasher soap, laundry soap, quart and gallon zip locks (I go through a lot, and Costco had them on sale).

I think next we're going to try to get some of the small shelving units in the car, the stuff that goes in them, and maybe one or two more totes of kitchen stuff.

Still need to find my bread machine, damnit....

Also, anxiety dreams suck /ass/.
.... well, there's still work the landlord has to do, and we're officially on the lease come tomorrow. Still, we're starting to move into the kitchen, and the internet is set up. Still need to get electric and trash moved from landlord's name to ours, but it's a start.

Very thankful we have the month overlap given we're all in poor health, but lordy, I could have used not having to pay double rent. And I think my office is going to be half pantry. Ah well.

Even if I can't garden much at this place, I can continue to learn how to cook, bake, and preserve.
....on my way to DragonCon.

Oh dear.

So many people.

Ah well. At least I have like 5 masks to take with me.
Well, that's a reminder and a half. Been procrastinating getting my address changed for the last 4-5 months, and renewing my tags for the last 2 months because of the first issue.

Just did it all online in 10 minutes, with a trip on Friday to pick up the actual tags planned. Damn.

Hm....

... Spent far too long this weekend reading old rp posts over at that other journal. And remembering when I had a personal LJ. I should write more, but the brain remains a closed book.

Or something along those lines.
... decided to stay off of most media, social and otherwise, this weekend. Damn. This is much harder than I expected. Didn't plan on doing it what with this Friday's events, however, all the more glad I decided to do so.
